During 2004, the OMIC Board will refine and prioritize its legislative goals for the 2005 regular session of the Oregon Legislature. Among the high profile issues that are expected to be on the agenda are the following:
  • Extension and expansion of the pollution control tax credit program.
  • Expansion of research and development tax credits.
  • Protection of the “single sales factor” tax apportionment legislation passed in 2001 and 2003.
  • Protection of the environmental insurance bill passed by the 2003 Legislature.
  • Workers compensation system reforms designed to reduce employer costs.
  • DEQ budget, fee increases and reductions in services to regulated industries.
  • New or expanded environmental regulations concerning issues such as mercury and persistent biocumulative toxins.
  • Tort reform.
  • Business taxation issues generally.
  • Capital gains tax reductions.
  • Transportation system funding.
